Lake Chad

Lake Chad is a gradually-depleting water body that was once one of the world’s largest lakes. Largely as a result of climate change, the size of the lake has shrunk drastically over time. Nevertheless, the lake remains a useful resource for irrigation and a popular spot for fishing and boat sport.

The Zakouma National Park

The expansive Zakouma National Park lies southeast of N’Djamena, about 800 kilometres (500 miles). The 305,000-hectare park is home to massive herds of giraffes, lions, wildebeests, elephants, antelopes, lions and wildebeests, among others. March and April are the best months to visit especially if you’ll love to witness wildlife gatherings around the watering holes.
